Let's start a conversation. Whether you're designing a new program, preparing for a major launch, or looking to boost your institution's approach, I'd be glad to hear from you.
I started out as a kid who taught himself to code, fell in love with movies, and never saw a reason to choose between the two. These two tracks, technology and creative expression, as well as the drive to teach and learn, have shaped everything I've done since.
I've shot feature films across the world, built a production company, sold movies to be distributed and streamed internationally, and led an AI-driven startup. But more than anything, it's the fifteen years I've spent in classrooms that became my guiding star. From first-generation students at the City College of New York to professional filmmakers at the American Film Institute and the Sundance Institute, and even tech founders at venture capital workshops, I've found that the most important tool we'll ever learn is using our own voice.
Now, more than ever, this question -- what happens to human expression when the tools change faster than we can understand them -- is where I live. I study it and teach others how to protect their authorship in a world changing in lightning speed. My book, Cinematography Beyond Technique (Routledge, 2025), is the latest chapter in that ongoing conversation, but it won't be the last.
